1. Promoter
Arena Holdings (Pty) Ltd (“Arena”) is the promoter of the “SUBSCRIBE AND WIN A SUZUKI SWIFT” (the “Competition”).
2. Promotion Period
The Competition begins at 00:00 on 2 September 2026 and ends at 23:59 on 12 November 2026 (“Promotion Period”). All qualifying subscriptions must be activated within this period.
2. Eligibility
2.1 Participants
Entry is open to natural persons who are South African citizens or permanent residents, and eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Participants must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract. Participants must possess a valid South African driver’s license and proof of residence if requested.
2.2 Ineligible Persons
Directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants of Arena or of any company that controls or is controlled by Arena (including suppliers or marketing agencies for this Competition), as well as their spouses, life partners, parents, children, siblings or business partners, may not enter.
Any person who at the time of the draw is already an active subscriber to Arena’s Subscribe and WIN A CAR – SUZUKI SWIFT 1.2 GLX MT is not eligible to enter (i.e. only new or expired subscribers who sign up during the Promotion Period qualify). Arena reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it believes the entry process has been tampered with or if the participant has breached these Terms.
2.3 Compliance
The prize will not be awarded if it would be unlawful to supply it to the winner . The winner must meet all legal requirements to accept the prize. Arena will not award a prize to any person who is prohibited by law or these Terms.
3. How to Enter
3.1 Subscription Requirement
To enter, an eligible participant must subscribe to Arena’s “Subscribe and WIN A CAR – SUZUKI SWIFT 1.2 GLX MT” annual digital only bundle subscription plan during the Promotion Period at the advertised rate(s). This includes the once-off annual digital only subscription plan at R499 for the first year, which shall auto-renew at R599 for the second year (Year 2) and R699 for the third year (Year 3), respectively, unless and until the subscription is cancelled in accordance with the applicable cancellation terms. Entry into the Competition is automatic once the subscription payment is successfully processed. A new subscriber will receive:
3.1.1 10 (ten) entries for a new qualifying annual digital only subscription paid upfront (once-off).
3.1.2 Participants will earn additional entries by completing the following verified actions during the Competition Period:
i. Download the publication mobile app(s) and login +5 entries
ii. Sign up for a publication newsletter(s) +5 entries
3.1.3 All existing active qualifying subscribers during the Competition Period will automatically receive:
a) 2 (two) entries into the Competition (once-off)
b) Existing active qualifying subscribers may earn additional entries by completing qualifying actions described in clause 3.1.2 (i), (ii).
3.2 Entry Costs
Arena will not require participants to pay any amount (directly or indirectly) to enter the Competition, other than the normal subscription price.
3.3 Marketing and Fairness
All advertising and information about the Competition and subscription offer(s) will be honest, clear and not misleading . Arena will accurately describe the terms of the offer(s), the prize, and the Competition rules. Entrants will not be given the wrong impression about their chances or any hidden conditions.
4. Subscription Offer(s)
4.1 Annual Digital Only Subscription Plan: R499 once-off annual subscription.
4.2 Included Access: Digital only access to Sunday Times, TimesLIVE,Business Day plus ePaper access to Sunday Times and Business Day (digital replicas of the print newspaper) publications as advertised.
5. Prize and Winner Selection
5.1 Prize:
There will be one (1) prize: a SUZUKI SWIFT 1.2 GLX MT (Manual) for the winner’s personal use. The approximate retail value of the prize is +- R276 900.00. The prize is awarded “as is” and is non-transferable, nonrefundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other goods. The winner is responsible for any taxes, insurance or other costs related to accepting the prize. The vehicle colour, dealership and delivery arrangements will be determined by the Promoter in consultation with the supplier, subject to availability.
5.2 Disqualification of Prize
In line with Section 36(3) of the CPA, Arena will not award the prize to anyone who is prohibited by law from receiving it. Additionally, as noted above, employees or associates of Arena and related parties are not eligible to win. Arena will ensure that all winners are checked against these criteria.
5.3 Selection Process
The winner will be chosen by random draw from all valid entries received during the Competition Period. The draw will take place on or about 18 November 2026 at Arena’s premises (or another suitable venue).
5.4 Announcement
The result of the draw will be announced promptly via Arena’s official channels (such as the website or social media) and the winner will be notified directly by phone, email or SMS using the contact details provided at subscription. Public announcements (if any) will not reveal any sensitive personal information about the winner.
6. Winner Notification and Prize Claim
6.1 Notification:
The potential winner will be contacted within 7 days after the draw. The winner must confirm acceptance of the prize (in writing or by return email/SMS) within 30 days of notification. If Arena is unable to reach the winner within a reasonable time (30 days) or if the winner does not claim the prize, Arena may select an alternate winner by re-running the draw among the remaining entries.
6.2 Verification
Before awarding the prize, upon request by Arena the winner shall provide proof of identity and eligibility. As required by the CPA, the winner will be asked to sign an acknowledgment of receipt of the prize and provide his or her South African identity number . This documentation will be kept on file. If the winner declines to sign the acknowledgment and or provide proof of identity and eligibility, Arena may treat that as a forfeiture of the prize. (However, the winner is not required to participate in any publicity or marketing for the prize.)
6.3 Delivery
Once verified, the prize must be collected at the location in South Africa provided by the Promoter. Arena will use reasonable efforts to make the prize available within a practical timeframe. Arena is not responsible for any delay or failure in delivery caused by the supplier. Risk of loss or damage to the prize passes to the winner upon delivery.
7. Privacy and Personal Data (POPIA Compliance)

8. General Conditions
8.1 By entering, participants agree to these Terms and Conditions.
8.2 These Terms and Conditions will be construed, interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of contract and dispute resolution in the Republic of South Africa.
8.3 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who breaches these terms or engages in fraudulent or dishonest conduct.
8.4 The Promoter is not responsible for any technical issues, including but not limited to network, platform, or device failures that may affect entry.
8.5 The Promoter is not responsible for any costs or expenses which you incur during and for purposes of your entry into the competition and your acceptance and/or use of a prize.
8.6 The Promoter and any affiliates will not be responsible for any harm, damage, loss or claim relating to the provision of any element of a prize or any changes to a prize that may be made at any time.
8.7 The Promoter may require you to provide additional information and documentation as may be reasonably required to process, confirm and facilitate your acceptance and/or use of a prize. If you refuse to provide us with the requested information or documentation, you will forfeit the prize.
8.8 The Promoter reserves the right to vary, postpone, suspend, or cancel the competition or any prizes, or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason whatsoever. In the event of any variation, postponement, suspension or cancellation you agree to waive any rights, interests, and expectations that you may have in terms of this competition and acknowledge that you will have no recourse against Arena and any affiliates.
8.9 Votes generated through bots, automated software or fraudulent means will be removed.
8.10 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of the winner and nominated individual. The winner may be required to provide proof of identity, confirmation of eligibility, and a signed publicity consent form. The winner shall also be required to confirm that the nominated individual has provided the necessary consent to participate in the Competition and receive the prize.
8.11 The promoter reserves the right to verify all information submitted by participants;
8.12 The entry or prize may be disqualified or forfeited if consent cannot be verified.
9. Liability
9.1 The Promoter is not responsible for:
9.2 Any technical issues, network failures, or delays affecting entry submission.
9.3 Any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in the competition or acceptance of the prize.
10. Consumer Protection and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, including the CPA. Arena affirms that all Competition rules are fair, reasonable and clearly disclosed.
10.1 Acceptance of Terms
By entering this Competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms in full. Participants agree not to take any action that would cause Arena to breach any applicable law or regulation. Any provision of these Terms that is invalid or unenforceable will be severed without affecting the others.
